Initial Idea:
I began by working with a poem about wolves, but after spending a considerable amount of time on this concept, I realized I wanted to create something more lighthearted and a bit closer to home for me.
First I collected shadows.
Knowing my coyote poem is about tall grass, I wanted to find a non-literal method of integrating the plant into my visual system. I started by taking photos of shadows that I would then transform into visual assets.
I then used my own construction based on the root 2 rectangle to align elements in a harmonious fashion.
In the end I had an authentic, beautiful booklet inspired by the wilderness of the Sonoran Desert, where I grew up.
